Irondale High School Activities
An American College Test study recently examined four factors to see which best predicted success in life:
- Good grades in high school
- Good grades in college
- High scores on the ACT admissions test
- Participation in extracurricular and co-curricular activities such as athletics, debate, drama, speech, music, and journalism
The only good predictor of later success, the study found, was participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Over 70% of Irondale students participate in a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Students involved in music, school publications, drama, speech, athletics, academic problem solving, and other special activities regularly advance to state, national, and international levels of competition.
