Enrichment Opportunities

ADVANCED PLACEMENT

This program of college level coursework includes rigorous requirements and more work than the typical college preparatory course and carries a weight factor of 1.25 on the weighted grading scale. In addition, upon completion of the curriculum, students are encouraged to take the national AP exam for the course(s) and may be able to earn college credit depending on their performance on the exam. POST SECONDARY ENROLLMENT OPTIONS (PSEO)

The Minnesota Post Secondary Enrollment Options Act enables qualified 11th and 12th grade students to enroll in courses or programs at participating colleges. The purpose of this legislation is to promote rigorous educational pursuits and provide a wider variety of options to high school students. They may enroll full or part-time in non-sectarian courses or programs. MVHS will grant academic credit at the same time the student is earning college credit. Students provide their own transportation, but books and tuition are without cost to the student. Careful coordination with the student's dean is required.
