At Sunnyside Elementary School, students who qualify for English Language Learning (ELL) services receive instruction in reading, writing, speaking and listening in academic English.  Students are taught skills that other students in their grade receive, but with extra support in a small group setting.  Instruction in the small groups is focused on the specific learning needs of students and the environment is supportive and encouraging.

ESL (English as a Second Language) staff communicate with classroom teachers on a regular basis to ensure that English Language Learners receive instruction that focuses on their learning needs and assists them in meeting grade level instructional goals.
